Tooth 9 & 10

After months of not producing any teeth, Sammy woke up this morning with two more, the upper right and left first year molars. Nice work little lady.

Also since I'm here, here are some words she says so I don't forget:
mama
dada
clock
car
up
yum yum
no no no
yes
yeah

Her hair is starting to grow a little thicker. Maybe she will have a mullet by 18 months? :)

Randoms

Sammy is now saying: uh-oh
As of today Sammy is walking between things (like the cabinets in the kitchen, a chair and me many steps away, etc.) She has become obsessed with socks and shoes, and I can't help but wonder if the new walking is due in part to the awesome pink pumas she has been sporting all day. (Thanks garage sales!)

Aaron wanted me to write that Harmon says: "That's funny Dad!" or "That's funny Mom!" He also is still waking up at least three times a night needing put back into his bed. Or the floor where he sleeps most of the time because that's where Dad snuggles him. (Toddler bed too small for Dad.)

the steps

so, Aaron posted on the real blog, but just for the ease of my record keeping (hah) Sammy took a good 4-5 steps today between the two of us. I am quite proud, but sad at how much more babyproofing it will entail. Does that make me a rude mother? Probably.

Mama!

Today during snack time Sammy (finally) quietly said "mamamama"! Happy!

End of Harmon's Teeth

Yesterday I happened upon Harmon's two bottom back (2-year-old?) molars poking through. All of Harmon's baby teeth have now been introduced to his mouth and I hope to write nothing more on the subject until they start to fall out at the appropriate time. Hallelujah.

Talks

Harmon says a lot of things funny. And a lot of funny things.

Everything that ends in -er becomes -et: tiget, digget, papet, cracket

"It's tickles!" (meaning it tickles)

"There goes Harmon!" (especially great when shouted exiting Sacrament meeting at church)

"It's Babyzilla!"

There are more, but obviously I can't remember them now.

Standing Monster

So, Aaron already posted this on the "main" blog, but it is worth mentioning that besides thinking she can walk on her own and yesterday pulled herself up to standing on the underside of the high chair (one hand on the leg and the other on the strap) today when I went to get her after her nap she was standing in her crib. Aaron of course rejoiced while I cried. Can we just skip the part where she learns to walk to the part were she is coordinated and doesn't break her face open?

For the Record

Harmon head-butted his lovely sister in the mouth, making her top gums above her teeth. Bad times had by all. Feel free to use this against him in the future, Sammy.

Updates

Tooth #8 for Sammy: bottom right of center finally came in on Sunday. Maybe now we can have a break?

Harmon's top 2-year-old molars were found to be mostly in. Maybe someday he will stop drooling. He went to the dentist yesterday who assured me that his teeth are ok despite the few serious mouth bashings. I hope he is right.

Harmon continues to fight going to sleep on his own in his bed. It takes a ridiculous 45min to put him to bed. Sammy goes to sleep pretty well but is still waking up every 2-3 hours. Except when cutting teeth. Then it's every 45min.

Sammy is frustrated because she can't walk. Instead of practicing her crawling, she gets up on hands and feet and lifts a hand trying to stand up. This often ends up in a face plant and tears. Other times she will just squawk because she can't quite pull up on the furniture yet. Favorite activity? (Barely) holding your fingers and walking around.

Both kids love outside to the infinite power. And daddy.

Sammy is eating lots and lots of foods and Harmon is obsessed with pretzels and milk.

Seriously Teething

All my posts seem to be about teeth. But that's partially because I thought it was cool in my baby book how my mom had kept track of when all mine came in. So you know, if I ever get to those baby books...

Teeth #6 & #7 appeared today (or late last night? early this morning?) on top left and right of the center teeth. This means that although the bottom was off to an early lead (3-0!) top has taken the lead by one. It also means that only 13 more teeth until we can finally sleep. Oh the humanity.

I hate teeth part 17, highly advanced children

Esther says I have to write that Sammy waves and therefore she is highly advanced. Now I wrote it, and if Esther says she is highly advanced I know it must be true, because she is an excellent judge of character!

Tooth #5 came in today, top center left. A close race though, as teeth #6-8 are close behind.

teeth, beds, potty, etc.

Sammy tooth #4 yesterday, top center right. That makes three for the bottom and one for the top. Real funny. Today she is crawling like a champ, which is bad because I am far too tired to chase her/keep her safe. She still loves to kick her feet and be held facing forward and charm everyone with giant smiles.

Harmon has been using the potty since we went to Montana last week. Awesome. Bribery of popsicles and marshmallows is working pretty good. He is also sleeping in a toddler bed, which works pretty well, except at 6am when he comes running out shouting "play cars!!!" Speaking of speaking, he is a chatterbox who is putting together a lot of words, often using 3 word sentences.

Watch SHOW!

I was just messing around on the computer while Harmon played with his cars and he asked "watch show?" I said no and this repeated itself about 10 more times. Finally he came over, climbed up on the couch, put his face ON mine and said "Watch SHOW!!!!!" and slimed me. Awesome.

teeth & night time wakings

Sammy got tooth #3 yesterday, bottom left of center. That makes three teeth on bottom, and 5 more about to break through any day.

Harmon woke up the other night at 2am and wouldn't go back to sleep. Instead he spent time in our bed talking incessantly and about an hour in climbed on Aaron and said "ride Daddy!" and proceeded to attempt to take a horsey ride. Funny, even at 3am.

Time to vacuum.

Someone is army crawling. Mostly one-armed. But she's on the loose now.

The same baby daughter is obsessed with carbs. Namely bread, pitas, and ritz crackers. No thank you baby food mush.

Also when she is about to eat she makes an awesome excited gasp noise.

Randoms

1. Sammy's hands are so soft. She has always loved to hold hands (or fingers) and now she likes to rub my hand or arm while being fed.

2. Harmon likes to say loudly/yell "TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT!!!!" when he desires a fruit snack.

3. Harmon likes to play in all of Sammy's toys and say "goo goo gah gah"

4. Harmon is speaking like crazy, sometimes using two or three words together.

5. Harmon begs/demands toys and treats by using the lethal combination of "share pleeeeeease!" "pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee treattttttttt!" "tryyyyy!!!!!" "tradeeeeeee!"

6. Sammy was growling a lot (at things she liked) then stopped, but has started again.

7. Sammy LOVES herself in the mirror and giggles with extreme delight. Quite taken with herself.

8. Sammy is an ultimate grabber of everything, especially food. She doesn't love mushy foods near as much as she likes super solids like bread and crackers.

9. Both kids can fall asleep in a room together when Harmon wakes Sammy up when he goes to bed.

10. Harmon climbs on the many tables in our front room and yells "SIT DOWN!" in either a super high or growly voice. I promise it is nothing like I say it to him at all.

11. Every night before going to bed Sammy gets kisses from everyone including Harmon who seems quite taken with her.

12. Harmon is obsessed with all construction vehicles. Actually all vehicles. But especially diggers and dump trucks and fire trucks and buses. Ok, all vehicles.

13. Sammy loves peek-a-boo with blankets.

14. Harmon loves a new wooden puzzle and mastered it within 10 minutes (when I thought I was going to be saving the second one for his birthday in 4 months) but played with it for hours anyway, doing it over and over and playing with the pieces.

15. Both kids love being outside. Ridiculously much. And bathing.

So Far Behind, But Remember...

I have a ton of things I have meant to write on here so I don't forget them. Like how Sammy rolls everywhere and eats big people food like she's starving to death. But instead of remembering all those I will just write yesterday's happy memory:

Driving in the car and I hear Sammy laughing. I turn around to see what is going on and Harmon is making funny/smiley faces at her. He makes a face and then she laughs. SO cute. I love times like this. She really loves to watch him, and they seem to be growing closer which is something I didn't expect to happen so young.

Peanut grows teeth.

My baby just cut her first two teeth. Within hours of each other. Seriously, I felt her gums at 2pm, nothing. At 3pm there was one tooth, and by 5pm the second one is in. Both bottom centers.

4 months and 1 day and she's ready for steak.

Actually, I think she will just end up crying when she bites her favorite new toy, her feet.

Don't worry, I'll get it

I was in the front changing Sammy's diaper when I heard Harmon messing around in the kitchen. We had just read The Great Cookie Thief and he was in there saying "cookie cookie" and I figured there wasn't much out he could get into. At least no cookies. I finally get up to see what he is up to (it's too quiet) and he is gnawing on the loaf of homemade bread, saran wrap strewn across the floor. I suppose he didn't want what we tried to feed him and thought he'd make his own breakfast. Silly.

In other news Sammy loves her toes and sticking out her tongue. And Harmon loves climbing into Sammy's crib. Luckily he hasn't realized that this skill could translate into escaping from his. Yet.

Make the Teeth Stop!

Harmon's teeth:
3/29 Tooth #13, upper right I tooth
3/30 Tooth #14, lower right I tooth
Tooth #15, upper left I tooth

Much pain and suffering.

Sammy seems to be suffering quite a lot as well. But she found her feet, and they are real fun to play with. I think her bottom two are on their way.

Feral Wiggle Worm

Sammy makes these noises in the night that Aaron describes as the sounds of a feral animal digging in the underbrush. They are tapering off the older she gets, which is good because they are loud when in a bed right next to you, but sad because they are pretty funny.

A couple of weeks ago she started getting extra wiggly. One night I had heard her wiggling around in her co-sleeper and when she woke me up to eat I was surprised to find she had turned a full 180. She continues to be wiggly and it has been funny to see her in all sorts of strange sleeping positions.

Peanut Roll

Today I made the wise decision of leaving Sammy on the floor while I went to put Harmon down for a nap. You know, instead of on top of the counter, the top of the stairs, or the edge of the bed. Anyway, I was in putting Harmon down and heard her crying quite loud. I figured she was just mad because she couldn't see anyone in her line of vision, or wanted picked up. Turns out the almost rolling she has been doing lately has led to the real thing.

Also, she is the smiliest ever.

Can't Decide?

Baby Girl laughed really loud today. A good solid laugh, caused by looking at my face.

Two minutes later she was crying and would not be comforted. Also caused by looking at my face.

smiles & candy

peanut now smiles at us. started around her month mark. started cooing and smiling yesterday. harmon seems to be taking to her a lot better. he will kiss her goodnight and try to help her sometimes when she is sad. real cute.

on the car trip back from montana aaron had been sharing junior mints with harmon. at some point aaron put them away in the glove box. after a bit harmon started fussing and aaron asked "what can I do for you son?" harmon looks at aaron and says "cah?" (candy) and we all bust up laughing.

Peanut by the Pound

4 weeks = 10lbs 8oz. Good job my giant baby girl. Now please stop grunting and making noises all night long and things will be even better.

Tooth, Words, Weight, etc.

Samantha:
8 days old: 8lbs 11oz
15 days old: 9lbs 1oz, 21.75inches, 36.something cm head

Harmon:
Tooth #12: 12/29/09
Words:
thanks
hello
who is it (slurred)
chair
table (tah)
bath
star (does hand gesture too)
moon (and points)
puh (airplane with pointing, or apple)

Today when I gave him crackers he turned to me and said "thanks!" Normally I will tell him "say thanks to daddy" when he is getting fed, and he will, but this was the first time unprodded. He also has been playing "telephone" where he will either use his hand or his toy phone and hold it up to his ear and say "hello?" Lately he will tell you who he is talking to "momo!" but today he said "hello? whoisit? mamama!" while playing with Aaron.

A new favorite: What does the baby say? "wahwahwah" What should we do with baby sister Harmon, keep her? "nah" Give her away?!?!? "yeah!" (he's still coming around)
